Episode #37:
The Dangerous Mission!
Return To The Past!

Gliscor lay on the ground, exhausted and worn out with his battle against Dusknoir. He looked up at him, who didn't even seem to be phased at all. Gliscor slowly stood up as he tried to go again. He couldn't believe how strong he was and how quickly Gliscor fell to the ground.

“Such a shame,” Dusknoir said. “This is the so-called mighty Gliscor that would beat me. How sad!”

“Shut up!” Gliscor snapped. “I won’t lose to you!”

He slowly stood up and prepared for another strike, but Dusknoir dodged and knocked him to the ground. He looked behind him and glared at his enemy, leaving Dusknoir to chuckle a little.

“You're a sad case, you know that?” Dusknoir said.

Dusknoir placed his hands on Gliscor's back and emit an odd energy. Soon Gliscor became gray, just like the world around him. Dusknoir finished the job, releasing his hands and looking at Gliscor, who was frozen in time.

“Well, isn't this a shame,” Dusknoir said. “I really thought you were better than this. Now, to go after Grovyle!”

He took Gliscor and ran off, expecting to show him what happened when the citizens of this dark world defied their leader. Gliscor was a big example of this and Dusknoir wanted to show everyone that.

Deep within Dusk Forest, the gang continued to the deepest part where the rumored Time Travel Pokemon was. They arrived at the point as Grovyle took the flute out. Cody looked back and wondered if Gliscor was really alright, since they just left his side a few minutes ago. Grovyle began to play his flute, calling this Celebi Pokemon to the area with a soft melody that was almost soothing and comforting.

“I wonder what Celebi's really like,” Cody thought. “I never actually came in contact with one before. I hope she's nice.”

Grovyle soon stopped as he waited for Celebi to come. He looked around to see if she was going to appear anywhere at all.

“It shouldn't be too long,” Grovyle said.

They soon saw a flashing light as they saw something forming in front of them. She appeared to be a fairy-like Pokemon with a round head that had bits of hair spreading back and up and two thin antennae near her forehead. Although a normal Celebi had a green body with a darker green lower area, she was mostly pink in color.

“Celebi?” Cody asked.

“I've never seen one that color before,” Turtwig said.

“She's beautiful!” Cyndaquil said.

“So this will get us into the past,” Buneary thought out loud.

Grovyle smiled, hoping to get Celebi's assistance and push through the time barrier itself. She opened her pink eyes and saw Grovyle in front of her.

“Hello there,” Celebi said. “Fancy meeting you again.”

“I need your help,” Grovyle said. “Dusknoir sent me back into the present and I need a way out.”

“Well, so much for the great hero from the future, huh? I saw you get caught and I must say, it's a tad bit embarrassing.”

“Hey, knock it off, I'm doing my best!”

“You're not going to return this world by making yourself a criminal.”

Cody wondered how they knew each other. They didn't seem to get along very well.

“Hey, Grovyle!” Cody asked. “How do you know Celebi anyway?”

He looked at Cody, and then back at Celebi.

“She originally helped me back when I first came here,” Grovyle stated. “By herself she can go through fine, but with a group, she needs a special area to boost her energy. Going through time takes a lot out of here, especially going through extended periods of time!”

“I want to make sure that the future is safe for my master, Dialga,” Celebi stated. “I know of his fate and I want Grovyle here to make sure the future is in a bright spot. This is where most of life began and to have it destroyed is not within the master’s plans.”

“We should get moving, Celebi,” Grovyle said. “The Sableye are following us. Celebi?”

Celebi took a good look at Cody, who doesn't know why she was looking at him like that.

“Celebi?” Grovyle asked.

Celebi snapped out of it and looked at Grovyle again.

“My apologies. I just...Don't worry, let's move on.”

They all continued onward while Celebi wondered about Cody. She knew she had seen him before, but she didn't understand why he was so important to her.

“It's odd,” Celebi thought. “He's just a Mudkip, but I don't understand what's so great about him. Whatever, it's probably not that important.”

They progressed deep into the forest where the portal was taking them. Way back there, Dusknoir looked at them and simply watched as they left. He laughed as he went off in another direction, waiting to strike them. The interior was a bit smaller than the remainder of the forest, and it didn't take long until they get close to their destination.

“Hey, Grovyle,” Turtwig asked. “What'll happen to Celebi when this is all fixed. Won't she disappear like Gliscor?”

“To be honest,” Grovyle said, “Celebi can simply go through to another time and avoid everything.”

“Actually that may not be as likely as you think, Grovyle,” Celebi replied. “Anything from the future will vanish in time as well.”

“You're saying you'll go as well?”

“Right. Gliscor's going to leave even if he ends up saving the world.”

“So...we're going to leave?” Buneary asked in fear.

“Not quite. You're all from the past, so you'll be unaffected. It's only those from the future that'll leave.”

“So wait,” Cody began, realizing something horrible. “That means...”

“Exactly,” Grovyle replied. “I'll be erased even if I'm the one saving the world.”

Cody was surprised that he was admitting this fact, especially since he was the one saving the world.

“And I'm guessing Gliscor's aware of this?” Cyndaquil asked.

“Unfortunately he is.”

He suddenly stopped and felt an odd sensation. They all stopped and wondered what was going on. It was Gliscor, and something happened to him.

“This feeling,” Grovyle thought. “Gliscor must have...No, he couldn't have lost!”

“Grovyle, is there something wrong?” Celebi asked.

“It's nothing. Just an odd feeling. Let's keep moving!”

They kept going forward until they reached an odd flowing portal in between a few rocks. They realized that this was the portal Celebi was talking about. This was the only way through.

“This is it?” Cody asked.

“Yes,” Celebi replied. “This is the passage of time!”

“What are we waiting for, we have a mission to get to!” Buneary said.

Grovyle looked at Celebi as they both smiled. They were both aware of what would become of them, but they knew that they would rather be gone than to have the future in eternal darkness.

“Let's move,” Grovyle said.

“That's as far as you're going!” a familiar voice shouted.

They all freaked out as they turned around to see Dusknoir waiting for them. Before they knew it, they were surrounded by Sableye from all over.

“Dusknoir!” Grovyle said in anger.

“Did you really think we'd give up chasing you after all this time?” Dusknoir asked. “I'm afraid you're far too stupid for that.”

“So you let me go on ahead so you'd get all of us at once!”

“Precisely.”

Grovyle growled in anger, but he immediately noticed the weird block by his side.

“What's that you got there?” Grovyle asked.

He tossed it forward as it landed on the ground. Everyone looked at it, stunned beyond words. It was Gliscor, frozen in time!

“You...you MONSTER!!!!” Grovyle growled in anger.

“It's only fair,” Dusknoir replied. “Anyone who defies me deserves to be punished!”

Grovyle roared in anger and created his Leaf Blades and prepared to battle against them. The other Pokemon saw what he was doing and did the same, getting into their stances.

“We're not giving up without a fight!” Grovyle said. “We'll push through and save this world!”

“You think you can beat me?” Dusknoir asked. “Especially when I have someone else with me?!”

“Someone else?”

They all immediately heard a ferocious roar right where they are. They all looked at a nearby ledge, leaving their eyes to widen as they went into a deep state of shock.

“No way,” Grovyle said. “Is that...”

What they saw was none other than Dialga, who appeared to be far different than normal. His body was a darker shade of blue with orange lines around him. He roared a powerful roar strong enough to crush the ground beneath him. His power caused the gang to cower in fear of him.

“You...You brought...him?” Grovyle asked.

“Indeed,” Dusknoir said. “If you have to battle us, you'll have to fight him. Keep in mind, he's strong enough to devastate buildings completely.”

Grovyle fell to his knees and slammed his hands on the ground. They were all done for, and everyone knew it.

“It's over,” Grovyle said. “We're finished!”

“You're giving up?!” Turtwig asked.

“But why?” Cyndaquil asked.

“Just look at him!” Grovyle replied with fear. “He's teeming with power! Not even his brother can stop him! And he's frozen in time as well! Just turn me in, I'm done!”

Dusknoir laughed, humored by Grovyle's withdrawal from his previous threat.

“Such poor words you had back there. I guess they meant nothing here.”

“Mark my words, though. There's someone else within the past as we speak. That boy, my partner! He'll save this world while you're being distracted by myself!”

Dusknoir looked down, only to chuckle a little. His chuckling only went into insane laughter, finding humor in his light of hope.

“What's so funny?!” Grovyle asked.

“Tell me,” Dusknoir stated. “What is your partner’s name. More importantly, is he a Pokémon like you?”

“He’s a human. His name...is Cody Gunner.”

Cody and his team were in shock. Cody looked up at Grovyle and tried to understand all of this.

“But that’s MY name,” Cody said. “I’M Cody Gunner!”

Grovyle was in shock as well. It suddenly started to make sense, why they were brought here as well.

“You’re...You're him?!” Grovyle said. “I thought you were just a Pokémon with a strange name!”

“Indeed,” Dusknoir said. “You see, Cody Gunner is not only human, but he possesses the Dimensional Scream!”

“You LIE!!! This can't be true!”

“Grovyle!” Cody said.

Grovyle turned to Cody. He knew that he was actually telling the truth this time, and simply could not believe what he just found out.

“I'm as confused about this as you are,” Cody began, “but I have the Dimensional Scream.”

“But...you're a Pokemon now?” Grovyle asked.

“Oh, this is rich!” Dusknoir said. “Get 'em, boys!”

The Sableye snickered as they went after the group. Turtwig didn't want to give up, but everyone else seemed to want to.

“We have to do something,” Turtwig said.

“You make it seem easy!” Grovyle said, standing up. “But what can we do?”

“Anything, anything at all!”

Turtwig suddenly realized a plan that he could use Celebi with. He looked at her and tapped her back.

“Hey, can you send us for a quick lapse in time. Enough so that they haven't arrived yet?”

“Impossible. If I try a plan like that, Dialga will just override it. He has pure control over Time. His power is greater than my own!”

“Please, just for at least a second!”

Celebi sighed as she focused her power and caused them all to vanish momentarily. Dialga roared furiously once again, causing his plate near his tail to shine. He emitted a powerful pulse that caused the gang to become visible as they fell to the ground.

“There they are!” Dusknoir said. “Get him!”

“Now's our chance!” Grovyle said, running for the exit.

“What about you, Celebi?” Turtwig asked.

“Don't worry about me,” Celebi replied. “I'll be able to escape, just run!”

They all nodded as they got into the portal. Celebi shined and began to teleport away. The portal itself faded into nothing, leaving the rest of them to become annoyed.

“They escaped!” Dusknoir said. “Please, master Dialga. Allow me to go into the past once again. I promise I will not mess up again!”

Dialga looked at him and nodded in response. Dusknoir nodded back, leaving him to turn to his partners.

“Let's move, team!” Dusknoir said.

They all headed off in search of their own portal. Dialga looked into the sky, hoping to make sure it stayed dark as the night. As for the gang, they continued to travel through the passage of time, but it was only fate that would guide them to their previous timeline. Their adventure...was just getting started!
