Episode #6: Misty of Cerulean City!

Cerulean City: the city surrounded by a mysterious, blue aura. Earlier, Flow called up Jason to get some information on the Gym Leader and how he could beat her. He learned about Misty, the Water Type Gym Leader here and he was prepared to take her on. Before they could do that, however, they continued to follow the Spiky-Eared Pichu, who was continuing to travel with them on their adventures. They only came for one reason, to find the missing part that the people at the Power Plant had missing.

“Okay, so where is this?” Flow asked.

The Pichu continued through the city as the rest of them wondered where she was taking them. They soon arrived at what appeared to be the Cerulean Gym, the small performance stadium that doubled as a theater.

“Wait, you mean the part,” Flow said, “IS IN HERE?!?!?!”

“Piiii-chu!” she replied.

“You think it’s underwater!” Tobias realized.

“It had better not,” Flow asked himself.

They soon saw an old, slightly pudgy man with a black suit and a top hat, as well as a monocle and a swirly mustache, that looked really fake. Flow and Tobias, as well as the two Pichu, were suspicious about this man.

“Umm....helloooooooo!” he said in a very goofy accent, like something out of a baby show. “Fancy meeting you here!”

“Uhh...hi,” Flow said, slightly confused. “Do you work at the Gym?”

“Who meeeeeeee? No, why...would I? I just came here to deliver things for Misty. She's so BEYOOOTIFUL!!!”

“Ooooookay. Do you know about any machine parts?”

The man began to panic a little, leaving Flow to catch onto his act.

“What machine parts?” he asked. “Who would put one in a Gym? Honestly?”

“You seem to know.” Flow said.

“W-What?”

“Seriously, your acting's outright horrible. Just who are you anyway?”

He looked around nervously. The three of them were the only ones there, as well as the two Pichu. He smiled and gave the Spiky-Eared Pichu a ball.

“Have fun!” he said. “BYYYYYYYE!”

He skipped off, leaving them to look at the ball. It exploded as dust filled the surrounding area. Flow snapped out of it and ran out of the smoke. The rest of them followed him as he followed the mysterious man.

“What was that all about?” Tobias asked.

“He stole the part, I know he did!” Flow replied.

They went throughout the city in an effort to try and catch him. He eventually led them to a bridge leading to Route 24 north of Cerulean City. He immediately stopped when he realized that the road was closed for repairs.

“You have to be kidding me!” he said in disappointment, speaking in a regular voice.

“Hey!” Flow shouted, finally surrounding him. “You have some explanation for why you pulled that stunt!”

He smiled and immediately removing his outfit. He revealed himself as a Team Rocket Member, with the old black outfit with the big, red, R on it.

“I am the finest recruit within the force of Team Rocket! I am Trey, and we will revive ourselves to Lord Giovanni!”

They all paused for a bit. Flow wondered how long he had been living under a rock, since they were done for ever since Vanguard died.

“Should we tell him?” Flow asked.

“I suppose,” Tobias replied.

“Pichu!” the two Pichu replied.

“Listen, I don't know how to explain this,“ Flow began, “but...Team Rocket's gone. They died out about a year ago.”

He tried to take in what he just told him, but for him, it was hard to believe. Apparently he wasn't aware that Team Rocket fell apart after Vanguard's death. He wondered if this was really true.

“No,” Trey said. “It can't be...This is just...no, no, NO!!!!”

He broke down into a state of shock. His boss dying and Team Rocket falling to a state beyond repair? Add the fact that he still didn't know about Giovanni and he was been thinking that Team Rocket was still around for a long time.

“How can...how can we lose?!” Trey asked himself. “We were so close! I took the part and everything!”

“So you did steal the part,” Flow said.

“So what? I threw it in the pool at the Cerulean Gym! It's useless to get it out!”

Soon, he felt an odd force behind him. He immediately became nervous as someone creeped up behind him.

“You think so, huh?” the young, feminine voice asked.

The girl smacked him over the head and knocked him out. Flow and Tobias looked at the young woman. She had semi-long, red hair with a bluish-white coat and a light blue, one piece swimsuit underneath.

“Hello,” she said. “I hope this guy wasn't causing too much trouble.”

“No, he's fine, really,” Flow replied.

“I'm Misty, and you are?”

“Flow. Say, you wouldn't happen to be the Cerulean City Gym Leader, would you?”

“I sure am.”

“I came here from New Bark Town and I was hoping to face some of the Kanto Gym Leaders. I hear you're pretty good.”

“Yeah, everyone does. I was just headed back there myself, after my boyfriend decided to ditch me at the last second!”

“That sounds bad,” Tobias replied.

“Pichu!” Kevin replied as well.

She noticed the two unusual Pichu. One with the spiked ear and one of a Pikachu-like color. She went over to them and took notice to the two.

“My, what strange Pokemon you have,” Misty said. “These are Pichu, right?”

“Mine I got from a breeder,” Tobias said. “He said I was 'destined for it,' whatever that means.”

“The Spiky one's not exactly mine,” Flow said. “It's just...with us.”

“I see. They’re so cute.”

“Pichu!” she replied, happy that someone thought she was adorable.

“Well, come with me and I'll show you the battlefield! Oh, and one more thing. You said Team Rocket was dead, right?” The two nodded. “I wouldn’t go around saying that right now. Rumor has it that they’re making a comeback. I haven’t seen any evidence, but that’s the talk of the town. I’d be cautious if I were you.”

She headed off, leaving the rest to follow. Flow wondered if Team Rocket could come back. The thought both made him excited and terrified, excited for the reason of taking down more Team Rocket members. Especially after what they did to his old friend, Nami. The Spiky-Eared Pichu began to follow them as well, but Flow stopped and looked behind her. She knew that he job was done, but she didn't want to leave.

“Is there something wrong?” Flow asked.

She stood there nervously and ran off. He wondered what that was all about, but he knew that she was not coming with them, at least, for now. Flow headed off with Misty and hoped to win his Gym Battle against her.

-------------------------------------------------

The interior of the Cerulean Gym was a giant pool with pontoons and a stage. They normally did performances there, but this was the time where they had no plans for performances, being a break time for them. As they entered, a young, blond-haired man, wearing a blue bathing suit with flower patterns on them popped out. He grabbed his glasses and headed over to Misty.

“I was wondering when you'd be back,” the man said. “How'd it go?”

“Not too good, Roderick,” she replied. “I really don't want to talk about it. I have a challenger with me, from New Bark Town in Johto. I hope you don't mind setting things up.”

“No, that's definitely not a problem. I'll be right back.”

He ran off, leaving Misty to turn back to Flow, wondering how he would do.

“I should let you know that I train Water Pokemon. As such, I use a pool instead of a battlefield. Is that alright?”

“Not a problem,” Flow replied. “At least I'll use Lanturn to the fullest potential here.

Misty and Flow began to go to their positions as they prepared for the Gym Battle that awaited them. Roderick managed to get back, wearing a pink, flower-patterned, buttoned shirt as he prepares to get to work.

“Okay!” he said. “The battle between Flow of New Bark Town and Misty of the Cerulean Gym will now begin! Each trainer will use four Pokemon each! Whoever knocks out four of their opponent's Pokemon first, will be the winner! Are both trainer's ready!”

“Yes!” they both said.

“All right, begin!”

“Go, Golduck!” Misty said, sending out her first Pokemon.

She sent out a bipedal, blue, duck-like Pokemon with a yellow beak and a red gem on its forehead and spikes on the back of its head. Flow opened his Pokedex to check it out.

“GOLDUCK: THE DUCK POKEMON; THE EVOLVED FORM OF PSYDUCK. WHEN IT SWIMS AT FULL SPEED USING ITS LONG, WEBBED LIMBS, ITS FOREHEAD SOMEHOW BEGINS TO GLOW.”

Flow put his Pokedex away and prepared to battle. He took his first Pokemon and and smiled, knowing what to do.

“Go, Lanturn!” Flow said.

He sent Lanturn out, who was finally in a set body of water. He knew that he had this battle in the bag at this point.

“Begin!” Roderick said.

“Lanturn, use Discharge!” Flow ordered.

Lanturn fired a powerful Discharge attack that struck Golduck hard. Misty always had trouble with Electric Types, but she knew what to do with him.

“Zen Headbutt!” Misty ordered.

Her too?!” Flow thought.

Golduck used Zen Headbutt to break free of the bolts and shot towards Lanturn. He struck him within the water and when he did, he used the momentum of his speed to shoot in a different direction. He stopped to look back at Lanturn, who wondered what to do now.

“Spark!” Flow ordered.

Lanturn fired a Spark that struck Golduck for massive damage.

“Protect!” Misty ordered.

Golduck used a Protect attack to block the attack from getting any worse. He dropped it once the attack stopped, leaving Flow to wonder what to do.

“Use Aqua Jet!” Misty ordered.

Golduck shot ahead and struck Lanturn numerous times. Flow tried to think of a plan before it was too late.

“My Golduck's fast,” Misty said. “Faster than anything on my team!”

I can see,” Flow thought. “She raised it well.

Flow noticed that he was covered with an extra layer of water, giving him a perfect idea.

“Strike him again!” Misty ordered.

“Discharge upon impact!” Flow ordered.

Tobias wondered what he was thinking, letting him attack like that. Golduck immediately struck Lanturn as he released a powerful Discharge attack that struck Golduck hard.

“That's it!” Flow said.

Suddenly a large explosion shot out from below, sending a tower of water in the air. Everyone covered themselves as water poured all over the place.

“Whoa, that's huge!” Tobias said.

“Pichu!” Kevin replied.

The water finally faded, leaving the three to wonder what happened. Golduck floated up, unable to battle, while Lanturn was as fresh as ever.

“Golduck is unable to battle!” Roderick said, raising his green flag to Flow. “Lanturn is the winner!”

“Good work, Lanturn!” Flow said.

Lanturn cheered happily as he jumped out of the water. Flow had a good feeling about this, he knew that for sure.

“I have a feeling that Flow's going to do well. Huh, Kevin?”

“Pi pichu!” he replied.

Misty called her Golduck back as she wondered what to do now. She smiled as she put Golduck's Pokeball away. She took out her next one, knowing what to do now.

“Looks like you're going to take down my only threat, buddy!” Misty said. “Go, Quagsire!”

Misty sent out her Quagsire, the large, blue, axolotl-like Pokemon with a thick tail, dark blue spikes and purple markings along its back and a blank and goofy stare. Flow opened his Pokedex to check it out.

“QUAGSIRE: THE WATER FISH POKEMON; THE EVOLVED FORM OF WOOPER. THIS CAREFREE POKEMON HAS AN EASY GOING NATURE. WHILE SWIMMING, IT ALWAYS BUMPS INTO BOAT HULLS.”

Flow put his Pokedex away and prepared to go for it. He knew he could win this.

“Begin!” Roderick said, raising his flags in the air.

“Lanturn, use Discharge!” Flow ordered.

Lanturn fired a Discharge attack, however nothing worked. Flow was amazed at what was going on, but Misty knew this all along.

“Quagsire, use Mud Bomb!” Misty ordered.

Quagsire fired a powerful Mud Bomb that pushed Lanturn far back as he went near the back wall. He snapped out of it to see Quagsire approaching him.

“Mud Bomb again!” Misty ordered.

Quagsire fired another Mud Bomb at close range. Another, less violent explosion occurred as Flow covered himself. Lanturn popped up, unable to battle.

“Lanturn is unable to battle!” Roderick said, raising his flag to Misty's side. “Quagsire is the winner!”

Flow's only Pokemon who could get him a clear victory was now done. He wondered if he had a chance now. He couldn't give up just yet, but the odds seemed to have dropped. How was Flow going to get out of this?
