Episode #94: Rain vs. Kodou (Part 2)

The top four battles continued with Rain and Kodou’s battle. Rain was up by five Pokémon while Kodou was down by four. His Ambipom slowly spun around on his regular hands while swinging his extra hands on his tail around and around. Rain knew that Ambipom had tons of energy to prepare for battle, but how would Luxray fair against Ambipom.

"I can't leave him out there," Rain thought. "Luxray, Return!"

Rain recalled Luxray and began to think of a way to defeat Ambipom. Even though he had the lead, he feared he would lose it again like last time. He had to make a smart choice here.

"Go, Torterra!" Rain said.

Rain sent Torterra out to deal with Ambipom. Ambipom simply jumped to his feet and prepared for battle.

"Begin!" the official said.

"Torterra, use Leaf Storm!" Rain ordered.

"Block it with Swift!" Kodou ordered.

Ambipom spun around and shot a Swift attack, while Torterra shot a Leaf Storm with the tree on his back. Both attacks collided with some passing each other and striking each other hard. They recovered from the attacks while they awaited further orders.

"Double hit!" Kodou said.

Ambipom shot himself towards Torterra and struck him hard, pushing his large body back a bit.

"Wood Hammer!" Rain ordered.

Torterra's leg turned into wood and struck Ambipom hard. Ambipom recovered and prepared for another attack.

"Focus Punch!" Kodou ordered.

Ambipom's tails began to glow as it struck Torterra hard, leaving Torterra in a bit of a bind.

"Torterra, use Wood Hammer!" Rain ordered.

Torterra slammed Ambipom to the ground with Wood Hammer, striking him hard and crushing him forcefully.

"Ambipom, use Swift!" Kodou ordered.

“Torterra, use Leaf Storm!” Rain ordered.

Both Pokémon fired their attacks as they hit each other hard. Both of them fell after the attacks hit, but neither of them were done.

“Last Resort!” Kodou ordered.

“Solarbeam!” Rain ordered.

Both Pokémon charged their attacks as they prepared to strike each other. Ambipom charged forward and struck Torterra, but Torterra fired the Solarbeam as it hit his opponent hard. Both Pokémon fell to the ground hard, unable to battle.

“Torterra and Ambipom are both unable to battle!”

“Folks, this is some battle we're witnessing here! Since Kodou has lost his third Pokémon, we'll take a quick break before we continue! Rain still has the lead, but I seem to be getting the feeling of deja vu. I hope Rain won't fall for the same mistake he did last battle. We'll be back in ten minutes!”

“I'm going to get something to eat,” Manny said, standing up. “You guys want anything?”

“No thanks,” Donovan said. “I'm good.”

“Can I have a hot dog?” Jessica asked.

“Sure thing,” Manny replied. “I'll be right back.”

Manny went up to the concession stand to order his stuff, while getting himself a salted pretzel and a cherry soda, both of them he would share with Buneary. He ordered his food. The woman who was manning the concession stand took accepted his order while Manny got an odd feeling around him.

He looked to his right to see none other than Kosui Arano, wearing the tropical shirt and sunglasses to his name. He was nearly frightened, but Kosui simply just walked past him. Manny still couldn't believe that he was here, but he didn't want to say anything. He was too afraid to; if he said even a whisper to anyone, it would probably cost him his life! The lady at the concession stand gave him his food, to which Manny came back to earth and payed for the food. He took everything and headed back to everyone else.

“What was that brat Kosui doing here?” Manny thought. “Whatever it is, I bet it's bad.”

He headed back and gave his hot dog to Jessica, while he sat down and sent out his Buneary to share his pretzel with her. She happily took a bite as she watched Rain and Kodou battle.

“We're back with Rain and Kodou's battle in the first round of the top four. Kodou is in this battle with three Pokémon remaining, while Rain has four Pokémon remaining, with Kirlia and Torterra knocked out. Rain has the lead right now, but how will he fair against his opponent? Before we begin, let's pick a field to battle with!”

The roulette spun around to pick a battling arena, and it chose the Rock Arena again. The arena changed back to rock as Rain and Kodou continued their battle.

“Go, Honchkrow!" Kodou said.

Kodou sent out his Honchkrow, who cawed valiantly, ready to battle.

"Go, Luxray!" Rain said.

Luxray came out, though it wasn't as tired as it was before, it was still quite weak.

"I have to try and get some damage onto Honchkrow," Rain thought.

"Begin!" the official said.

"Honchkrow, use Wing Attack!" Kodou ordered.

Honchkrow charged in at blinding speeds and struck Luxray hard, sending him back, nearly knocking him out.

"Discharge!" Rain ordered.

Luxray fired a Discharge attack that struck Honchkrow, sending to the ground as it slowly got up.

"Thunder Fang!" Rain ordered.

Luxray charged forward to strike Honchkrow with a Thunder Fang, but Kodou knew how to react to the attack.

"Dark Pulse, into it's mouth!" Kodou ordered.

Honchkrow shot a Dark Pulse into Luxray's mouth as it exploded violently, sending him back and knocking him out. Rain was shocked that Honchkrow and Kodou would do something extreme like that. Fortunately, Luxray was alive

"Luxray is unable to battle!" the official said, raising his red flag to Kodou's side. "Honchkrow is the winner!"

Rain recalled Luxray to his Poké Ball while he thought of a way to defeat Honchkrow. Rain took out another Poké Ball and prepared to take that Pokémon on.

"Go, Drapion!" Rain said.

Drapion popped out and prepared to take on Honchkrow.

"Begin!" the official said.

"Honchkrow, use Night Slash!" Kodou ordered.

"You use Night Slash too!" Rain ordered.

Both Pokémon used their Night Slash attack to strike each other, but despite their power, neither of them were affected too much.

"Wing Attack!" Kodou ordered.

Honchkrow charged forward to strike Drapion hard, but he grabbed on tight to his wings and squeezed them tight.

"Cross Poison!" Rain ordered.

Drapion released Honchkrow, but just as fast as he released his opponent, he slashed Honchkrow and ended up poisoning him. Honchkrow fell to the ground and tried to get up, but the poison was taking it over.

“Pin Missile!” Rain ordered.

Drapion fired a Pin Missile that struck Honchkrow as it struggled to protect itself from the repeating attack. Honchkrow's defense shattered and was knocked back from the attack.

“Honchkrow, use Haze!” Kodou ordered.

Honchkrow breathed a mist-like fog that covered most of the field and shrouded itself within the mist.

“Wing Attack!” Kodou ordered.

“Keep your guard up!” Rain ordered.

Drapion looked around and tried to sense where his opponent was. Suddenly, numerous attacks from all over appeared to strike Honchkrow. Drapion seemed to follow Honchkrow's attack pattern and struck it hard, knocking it to the ground. The poison once again took effect as he slowly got up.

“Use Cross Poison!” Rain ordered.

Drapion made his claws glow a bright purple as it struck Honchkrow hard, knocking him out.

“Honchkrow is unable to battle!” the official said. “Drapion is the winner!”

“Good job, Drapion!” Rain said.

Drapion clacked his pincers, taunting Kodou to bring out another strong opponent.

“With Kodou's fourth Pokémon out, it's time for an arena change!”

The roulette spun around again, this time showing a Water Field. The arena changed while Rain recalled Drapion so they could switch it up. They both hoped that their Pokémon would do well on the battlefield. Rain resent Drapion out as it rested on the pontoons, which seemed to shake a little.

“Looks like my Drapion won't get too much footing here,” Rain thought.

“Go, Mantyke!” Kodou said.

Mantyke popped out as he gave a happy cheer. Drapion just looked at it as it continued smiling cutely at him. Drapion just proceeded to laugh, while Rain seemed to agree.

“See?” Rain said. “Even my Drapion thinks your Mantyke was a bad choice.”

“OH YEAH, WAIT UNTIL I PROVE YOU WRONG, JERK!!!!” Kodou snapped.

“Begin!”

“Drapion, use Pin Missile!” Rain ordered.

Drapion fired the Pin Missile attack as Mantyke sank under water and swam around softly.

"Hydro Pump!" Kodou ordered.

Mantyke spun around near Drapion's pontoon and created a massive whirlpool that dragged it under. Once it was low enough, it was shot into air with the water pillar following it. The water shot high above the sky, so far that Rain could barely see Drapion within it. The water faded as Drapion fell to the water, floating up as he was unable to battle.

"Drapion is unable to battle!" the official said, raising his red flag to Kodou. "Mantyke is the winner!"

"I really need to stop laughing at baby Pokémon when they face my stronger Pokémon," Rain said, annoyed.

Rain took out another Poké Ball and prepared to take on Mantyke.

"Go, Drifblim!" Rain said.

Drifblim came out as it is registered on the screen. Kodou just snickered, knowing that he could beat Drifblim no problem.

"Begin!" the official said.

"Go, use Wing Attack!" Kodou ordered.

Mantyke skipped through the water with his wings glowing as he shot towards Drifblim.

"Ominous Wind!" Rain ordered.

Drifblim spun around and shot a strong wind that seemed to be blowing Mantyke away. Mantyke skipped around and eventually sank into the water, swimming around, trying to get a good position to strike.

"Confuse Ray!" Kodou ordered.

Mantyke jumped out of the water as its eyes began to glow a bright white, catching Drifblim's eyes and making it disoriented. It soon became dizzy and began to sway from side to side happily, cheering for his human trainer, despite not paying attention to the battle.

"Great," Rain said to himself. "Drifblim, use Shadow Ball!"

Drifblim was too confused to pay attention to his orders, making Rain seriously annoyed at the circumstances here.

"Mantyke, use Bubblebeam!" Kodou ordered.

Mantyke fired a Bubblebeam at Drifblim, who was struck hard with the attack. However once it was hurt enough, it snapped out of its confusion and glared at Mantyke, spooking it out a bit.

"All right," Rain said. "You know what to do, use Constrict!"

Drifblim wrapped its legs around the large Mantyke, as he struggles to break free.

"Now, spin it around!" Rain said.

Despite being a bit heavy for Drifblim, it still managed to spin it around as the weight gave it enough momentum to spin around violently. Once it was good enough, it released Mantyke and slammed it against a wall by Kodou, knocking it out as it slid down.

"Mantyke is unable to battle!" the official said, raising his green flag to Rain's side. "Drifblim is the winner!"

"Good job, pal!" Rain said.

Drifblim cheered happily in response to his victory, while Kodou recalled his Mantyke.

"Now that two Pokémon were knocked out, it's time to change the field one last time! Let's see what it'll become now!"

The roulette spun around and stopped on the Grass Field. The field slowly changed around as grass popped up. Kodou smiled, waiting to show off his new and improved Gligar, his final Pokémon.

"Ready, Rain?" Kodou asked. "You know what's coming next!"

Rain knew it was Gligar, his signature Pokémon. How he would deal with his strongest, though, was another question altogether. Did he have the strength to defeat him, or was this the end for him?
